Jump to the full entry & travel map Chiang Rai, Thailand Hi, Dao asked if I wanted to go to Pong Naam Ron village for their vegetarian festival. This is a remote village outside Chiang Rai town. It is Haw Chinese as far as I know. Dao had been told that the people there are vegetarians and they are having an event and want to show other people about vegetarianism. It was on a Saturday. So a bunch of volunteers went and Kanchana, Kitty and I drove out there too. The area in that direction is very scenic and not very populated and so it was mainly a nice drive, although the road is pretty bad for the last 5 km or so. Kitty slept through that part as usual. Coming out of the jungle and seeing the village, it is an impressive sight to see such large tea plantations in the middle of nowhere.
